Why discard or shelve religion?

What people at the University say

Can't be bothered with it

Want to do my own thing, and be accountable to my own conscience

I am too young: "Life, here I come!"

I prefer to choose my own principles: keep them flexible

Religion, refuge of the deluded

Religious belief and practice are rejected by my peers

Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die

Don't know much about religion

There may be something in religion, but for now, I will put it on hold

Religious doctrines and principles are too rigid and restrictive

Too many religions, too much factionalism, too much confusion division and conflict between and within them

Too many bad examples set and crimes perpetrated in the name of religion

Many so-called believers do not practice what they are supposed to preach

An honest atheistic humanism is preferable

Intellectual difficulties over religion:

*Religion is no more than a human construct

* God's existence in doubt

* No life after death

* Suffering: incompatible with notion of a good God

* Science has debunked most religious doctrines

* Is all this correct and true?

* What do you say?

* How deep or how shallow is your reasoning?
