Religious Education
Religious Education is the foundation subject in our schools.
Religious Education and Catholic ethos set our schools apart. The Head of Religious Education is responsible for ensuring the primary and secondary syllabus is taught and supported.
Each school follows the same syllabus. In primary schools this syllabus is called Celebrating our Journey and in secondary schools it is called Faithful to God, Faithful to People. Each school has a Religious Education Coordinator (REC) to assist teachers with class lesson delivery and local coordination.
To ensure teachers have quality inservice opportunities and access to the latest resources the Head of Religious Education works closely with the local RECs and the Parish Priests. The Catholic Scholls Office encourages teachers to formally update their skills in Religious Education through a variety of courses. The Head of Religious Education also looks after Diocesan school histories.
